Are Your Professionals Looking for Greener Pastures?
According to the latest Ouch Point survey from Opinion Research Corporation, an infoGROUP company (NASDAQ: IUSA), 80% of currently employed individuals are willing to consider leaving their employer. 25% of those polled stated they have made definite plans to change employers once the job market stabilizes.
As an executive, department or team leader, answer these questions honestly:
- Are your employees truly committed to your organization? If you said yes, what evidence do you have?
- What have you done to engage your professionals and insure they understand the significant role each of them plays in its success?
- How many of your employees can articulate the objectives of your organization, how these support the objectives of the company and how their role has a positive impact in achieving these objectives?
If your answers fail to make you comfortable consider conducting one on one 15 minute sessions with your team members. During this time make sure you communicate clearly and succinctly how important they are to achieving the organization’s goals and how this supports the company goals. Ask them where they are in meeting their quarterly objective and where they need assistance. If you want your team engaged you as their leader have to be engaged. Your team is much more apt to go in the direction you are walking than in the direction you are pointing.
