Measure/Grade Card Workshop

Measure/Grade Card Workshop

There’s an old saying in management, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.

Grade cards or “Report cards” have been a part of our lives from early in our childhood. Without these periodic status reports our parents would not have been able to determine our progress in achieving our educational goals and we would not have been aware of the areas in which we needed to improve.

In organizations the purpose of measures and grade cards are very similar. In the Measures/Grade Card Workshop we review:

  • Measures
  • Measure-Oriented Cultures
  • Monitoring Measures
  • Impact of Measures
  • Target vs. Forecast

The primary objective of measuring is to manage better—both organizationally and individually. Better management results in an organization that plans better, performs better and is more successful.

Measure-oriented cultures are better equipped to identify and respond to changes impacting their organization. They inherently accelerate learning and stimulate innovation. They promote individual empowerment by providing a clear understanding of expectations.
