Organization leaders face new problems each day. The temptation is to think of the latest problem as the “biggest.” No matter what today’s problems may be, they’ll be different tomorrow and chances are they’ll be even bigger.
During the planning retreat AmeriStride will assist the leadership team in renewing their:
- Mission
- Values
- Strategic Position
- Vision
- Goals
In preparation for the planning retreat we ask the leadership team to step back and review external trends. We conduct stakeholder surveys and gather data for a SWOT analysis on the firm. This leads us into defining the Vital Few Objectives (VFOs) that we will monitor over the next three to five years to insure that we are progressing toward the company vision.
In defining our VFOs we will determine how best to measure our progress and what targets to aim for. In addition, we will discuss and determine what we should stop doing as a firm as well, so that we are able to free up resources to do that which is important.
Lastly we identify Initiatives that we are to embark on and complete in the upcoming fiscal year that move us toward achieving our VFOs. Like our VFOs, Initiatives have to be measured, someone has to be assigned to lead the team, team members have to be chosen, measures and targets determined.
